Equality in Planning

I led work to help a local council put its equality duties into everyday planning.

What I did

I was an urban planner. I led a team that helped our organisation understand its duties under the Equality Act 2010.

I collected anonymised case studies. I then designed and ran workshops where people could learn and solve problems together, in a safe space.

The actions table

We built an actions table with staff. It is a living document that staff added to before, during and after the workshops.

For each stage of planning, it sets out what officers can do to show they are meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty.
